ROHM develops surface-mount LEDs with aspherical lenses

July 08, 2021

ROHM has developed a surface-mount LED "CSL0701/0801 Series" with an aspherical lens for use with autofocus-assist sources such as digital cameras and camera phones. The new product realizes the industry's smallest 2924 size (2.9×2.4mm) through ROHM's self-developed component processing technology and optical design. Compared with the original product, the package area is reduced by 65% and the height is reduced by 30%.

The LEDs developed this time use Aspherical Lenses, miniaturization of light-emitting components, optical design based on CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) technology, and ROHM's self-developed mold technology to achieve the industry's smallest in surface-mount aspherical lens LEDs. 2924 size (2.9 x 2.4mm). By improving the heat dissipation characteristics, high power is achieved while miniaturizing. When designing according to the same amount of light as the original product, it helps to reduce the current consumption.

Moreover, in order to accurately illuminate the light to a distant target, a design with an optical axis deviation of ±3° is also adopted, and a package of a top view type and a side view type are added to the product line, thereby improving the customer. Design freedom.
